Our department Nephrology and Renal Unit collaborates in a variety of European and German basic research projects:

• Proteomic prediction and Renin angiotensin aldosterone system Inhibition prevention Of early diabetic nephRopathy In TYpe 2 diabetic patients with normoalbuminuria (PRIORITY): EU (FP-7) grant on proteomics for prevention of diabetic nephropathy.
• Research group 228 of German Research Association (DFG) elucidates "Immunopathogenesis and therapy of glomerulonephritis".
• The European Workgroup on Uremic Toxins (EUTox) conducts investigations on uremic toxicity.  In such frame, we carry thesis works on the impact of uremic environment on adipocyte function.  Furtherone, we established the first interactive, web-based database on uremic toxins.
• BMBF grant for "Analysis of sympathetic biodata and haemodialyis bed-side monitoring data for bio-feedback dialysis", collaboration with University of Applied Sciences Leipzig, Prof. Dr. Pretschner
